About Us
Roy Hinds has a background in solving aviation industry issues using appropriate technologies and working with the right business partners.
He originally studied electrical and electronic engineering at Plymouth University in the late 1980′s.
In his early career one of his first projects was involvement in the first generation of solid-state bird scaring devices for Gatwick and other UK airports.
In addition he has been involved in numerous other projects in mission critical environments including the government, financial and commercial sectors.
Roy has undertaken a comprehensive study of the application of EFB (Electronic Flight Bag) for the aviation service company ARINC, this was undertaken jointly with three major international airlines, Britania, GB Airways, and Thomas Cook Airlines. He focused specifically on improving the communications between flight deck crew and the rest of the business.
He holds an MSc in Air Transport Management from City University, is a member of the institute of Electrical Engineers, and a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and has also been invited to speak at RAeS events.
Roy has a life long interest in aviation, regrettably a hearing defect precluded him from pursuing a commercial pilot’s licence, he can however relate to the career aspirations of the modern commercial pilot, but is an active member of the local flying club.
He was until recently a senior member of the management team at Lydd where he oversaw a number of projects to advance the airport’s status as a regional airport and is an active member of the BBGA’s flight operations committee.
He now focuses his time and efforts on the evolution of AV8Services and CrewDatabase.com
